When you click on a photo to view it in the photo gallery, and want to share that link with someone else, you will need to use the true URL of the photo rather than what is displayed in the address bar.

If you click on a photo from the home page, say in the "Last additions" section, you'll get a URL that looks like this:

http://www.houstonspotters.net/cpg/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=2

This can change, once new photos are uploaded.

The correct URL for this particular photo is here:

http://www.houstonspotters.net/cpg/displayimage.php?pos=-3500

Near the bottom of the page is an item in the photo information section called, oddly enough, URL:

OK, good...now...how do we insert links into messages so that large pictures appear in the body of the message like Andrew etc have been doing?

Use the "insert image button", then paste in the URL of the photo: (I've added spaces to prevent rendering)

Thought this info might be helpful to all.

To include an image directly in a post (as opposed to inserting a hyperlink), when you are viewing the picture in the gallery, right click and choose "view image" (or something similar, depending on what browser you are using).  See the image attached below for an illustration.  Then you have the full URL to the image in your browser address bar.

Then in the forum, you just use the "Insert image" button while posting, or enclose the image url in the proper tags, as follows:

Code: [Select]

The process is a bit more drawn out in Internet Explorer 7.  You have to right click on the image, choose Properties, and the copy/paste the URL from the Properties window.  See attached.
