Preview problems
« on: February 28, 2008, 20:59:26 »
Before posting a reply or starting a thread, i always check it via the preview function, especially if it contains links. However over the past few weeks I have noticed that this function is not working, thought I would mention it.

It's Blair's fault.  He "upgraded" us to 1.1.4 last week.  :D

I've been having that problem for the past month at both home and work, now i have to post it and modify and hope someone doesnt get the wrong idea on a post i messed up on and edit to my final version...like now...  :-\

Also, after I edit a post, it always takes me to a blank page that just says "done" in the status bar... and what is this: I didn't type that!

Blair said that the funny characters are some kind of Firefox rendering problem.  Looks fine in IE.

Well I do use Firefox, however I am having the same problems with Netscape, sorry I refuse to use IE.

Its actually an issue where the page is telling the browser to use Unicode (UTF-8) and the browser isn't listening...
In firefox, if you go to view, character encoding, then Unicode (UTF-8), it displays perfectly.

I'm looking into it.

My Firefox preference was already set to UTF-8.

Cool.  Just noticed it is available for Windows.  I don't mind giving it a try.   :)

Any advice/tips for tweaking it on Windows?  Right off the bat, sites  don't look as nice as Firefox.

I've got Safari running on Windows, as well as Opera, IE, & Firefox.  I use them all for testing the output of web pages.

I have nothing against safari, it actually renders pretty fast, faster than FireFox in my tests, however, for usability, I'm still stuck on FireFox, maybe I'm just used to it.

Yes, Safari seems to render very quickly.  And it looks like those weird characters are gone from our pages.  The preview function works, well sort of.  I previewed an earlier post, and it only showed the first few lines.  A preview of the preview, perhaps?  :D

So far, my only real complaint is the size of the menu bar and tabs - wish those were bigger.

FWIW, this seems to be broken in Google Chrome.
